Have had to buy 2 in the last 10 years... freon leaks in all cases... more expensive to fix than replace...very disappointed. Built in cabinets, so we are now looking to replace the cabinets to allow us to use standard size appliances. the second unit lasted 19 months and even if whirlpool warranty stipulates that it cover all internal sealed pieces like compressor evaporator and such for 2/5 years depending on the model they tell me this model is not cover
never again !!! its been a week waiting for the tech middle of summer 28 degrees no fridge ....

The compressor noise is quite loud. Didn't have much choice of the model because of space limitations. Surprised that Whirlpool would sell an appliance that runs like this. It does keep a good constant temperature, which is most important, so we are living with the noise.

Purchased the sidekick refrigerator and freezer when parts were no longer available for the Whirlpool sidekicks we purchased in 2008. Obviously planned obsolescence. Could not even get new ones in white. That having been said, the new ones seem to work okay so far. However the internal door shelving design is terrible. Units come with a limited number of door shelves. We ordered additional shelves only to find out that the spacing is terrible. Absolutely no way to add more shelves. Much wasted space.

This product showed up very well packaged. Plugged it in and put it to work immediately. Love the fast freeze option, freezes what ever with in a couple hours. Also love how everything stays frost free!

I have bought this unit from you four times. Replaced it twice. The unit dies after a year or two. Always a freon leak. Two refrigerators and two freezers. I am stuck with ordering with you because my cabinetry is set to the size of the two units.

The freezer works fine but the first one had to be replaced because it leaned to the right about 1™ and therefore would not line up with the refrigerator next to it. The second freezer still leans a little bit to the right but not as bad, so we gave up and accepted it as it is. We are tired of switching froze. Items from freezer to coolers and back to the freezer.

Decided to go with these when we remodeled the kitchen. In the last 5 years I have had to replace both the Freezer and the Refrigerator twice. When the refridgerator failed there were no parts available for the repairs. NO PARTS AVAILABLE...ANYWHERE! I tried to contact whirlpool directly and there response was that the parts were backordered and they would get back to me. My freezer has just failed again and because the cabinets were built for these specific units and there are no other full size stand up options that will fit in the opening (66" high, all others are 70"+) I will have to buy another of these crappy units, however just like the parts I needed 2 years ago they are backordered! Stay as far away from these units as you can. ABSOLUTE JUNK!

Unfortunately this freezer died at 10
months old. Fortunately its within the factory warranty and is getting a new control board. Other than that the interior shelves and basket are very basic, no digital temp reading available on this unit.

This set came with my modular home. It has rotted out my floor and the freezer unit stopped working within months. I am an hvac/refrigeration tech with a degree in repairing commercial units and i suggest you not to buy this. Im surprised there isnt a class action lawsuit yet. I have replaced the defrost timer 2x. I have replaced a condensor fan motor. Additionally, it pours water when it decides to stop working for a few days. I have to replave subfloor $3200 This unit has been a nightmare to own and repair. This is designed to fail and be replaced because nothing else fits its footprint. This scam is common in the world of refrigeration and even hvac. Sad to do this to your customers. Built to fail and need replaced with itself and only itself bc its specific dimensions. They have contracts with pre manufactured home companies to build these in and you replace them once they go bad. Scam do not buy
Also, to the annoying customer service reply of "message us on social media" thats awful customer service. Fk your instagram we are real people and get a real customer service rep that isnt on facebook. It was good while it lasted. We had this freezer for 2 years and it stopped being able to keep temperature. We have waited a year and half for the replacement part but it has still not become available from being on back order.

I have had this installed for about 3 weeks and so far has worked well. Very quite and keeps its temperature within a couple of degrees of where its supposed to be. Like the glass shelves as nothing can fall through, baskets for larger items and door shelfs. One beef I have with this freezer is that for the price it could have come with a digital temp. readout.

Our Sidekick fridge was manufactured in April of 2021. In October of 2022 the fridge stopped cooling. The fan blew but it was not getting cold. At that point we had it repaired by a Whirlpool repair company. Fast forward to this week when it stopped getting cold again. The estimate to repair the fridge is $2200, well over the price of a new fridge. Given that a fridge should last more than a few years, we will not purchase this fridge or a Whirlpool appliance again after this experience. We are now left to sell our matching freezer and redo a portion of our fridge to accommodate a different fridge/freezer. So disappointed.

Shoot! I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. I received my freezer three weeks ago and the Ice maker hasn™™t worked since day one. I waited the 24 hours they said it would take. Nothing. Nothing for a week. Then I went on vacation and returned to a solid block of ice in the ice tray and door shelves. Cleaned it all out and put everything back. Nothing. I bought a new ice make to exchange the old one. It still is not working. WTH!?

I purchased this freezer as part of a kitchen remodel project that included a refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher - all Whirlpool products. Due an error on the part of Grand Appliance, the ice maker for the freezer was not installed at the factory. When it was finally installed it did not work properly and is scheduled for replacement "some time in September". The unit was delivered along with all the other appliances on the 29th of July and still no ice maker replacement. As you can see from the picture, the ice maker is half full of frozen water. I am very disappointed in Whirlpool.

Disappointed in the modifications to both 30" Sidekick freezer and fridge vs the older model from 2004 or there about. The older model was well made with split adjustable shelves almost the length of the door for both freezer and fridge. Love the glass shelves and the fact that this still has the split adjustable sheves, but there are fewer. That flat wire box holder at the bottom of the freezer door is not useful to us yet because we are not a frozen pizza family. Have to figure out another use. This product was far superior to others in the same size range before in design and reliability and is now average with poor ratings for reliability. Hope Whirlpool will listen to your former customers.

We purchased our home in 2021 with a pair of sidekick fridge and freezer combo. In June 2023, the fridge stopped working. We called for a repair, which cost us $750, and it was "fixed." However, not even a year later, it's dead again. This time, we've lost $350 worth of groceries and are facing another repair bill of $750. Even the replacement parts are failing!
To make matters worse, customer service at Whirlpool was not helpful at all. They offered me a 15% discount on a new fridge, but why would I buy a fridge that doesn't last? Additionally, I've had to have a repair person come out to replace the Whirlpool microwave and the main console on my wall mount oven. Does that instill any sort of confidence? Absolutely not.
It's incredibly frustrating to deal with such unreliable appliances and unhelpful customer service. I expected better durability and performance for the price we paid.

Ordered freezer arrived after 4 weeks of waiting and never froze. We lost a freezer full of food with no warranty for lost food unless we purchased the extended warranty. IT WAS A BRAND NEW FREEZER JUST INSTALLED AND IT NEVER WORKED! Numerous phone calls to Whirlpool resulted in no a loop hole of only being able to get an extended warranty extension and then I was told to contact the seller that sold me the warranty. Had to wait another 2 weeks to get another replacement freezer and fortunately it works fine.

The freezer fit in our old space perfectly. What we didn™™t care about was the fact that in today™™s day and age the stainless steel should be finger print resistant. Also, the add on ice maker is something most people would want and should be included in the factory shipped unit.

This freezer replaces a similar 12 year old Whirlpool freezer. I like this one but wish that it had more door storage shelves - it only came with four (my other one had eight). Also, I wish I would have had the option to order it with an auto ice maker. I found one on Amazon for about $100 and will hopefully be able to install it myself.

This refrigerator and freezer set came with our newly built DR Horton home. It was delivered in 2020. The freezer door had to be replaced within one year because of the faulty seal; the next year there were issues with the freon; this year it is the refrigerator that is repeatedly frosting over and unable to maintain balanced temperatures. At this point we are tired of throwing bad money after good. No issues with Home Depot. Just trying to forewarn others about this model and brand.

I bought this freezer a month ago... and it was on backorder. So, I waited a month for delivery. On day 1 we heard a humming and buzzing noise from the unit once it was plugged in. We figured it was just warming up and would quiet itself down after the unit was chilled. Nope. It's been perpetually getting louder with each passing day and we're still waiting for the service technician to arrive. The earliest appointment they had was a week out from the request date. And it's at the point where I plugged my old freezer back in because I'm fearful this one will fail soon.
If you read that last sentence, you'll notice I kept my old freezer. I only replaced the old, working, 100% functional Whirlpool freezer because the company decided to redesign these built-in units with new door handles... which are larger, mounted higher, and shaped differently. So my fridge/freezer pair no longer match! They could have easily created a new door handle shape that fit the old location and I would have only been forced to upgrade my freezer door handle when the original fridge died. But nope, they wanted to force me into buying both units again.
Which has caused Whirlpool to lose any repeat business from me. Your short-sightedness is astounding... and why would you send me a link to create a review when you know my new unit is not functioning normally? Your business practices seem to need some revamping.

I purchased this Side Kick Freezer WSZ57l18DM because our first Whirlpool Side Kick only lasted 6 years and would not keep our meat frozen. We lost hundreds of dollars of frozen food. It is the only freezer that fits in our cabinet space and I like the style. I hope it will be reliable and last longer than 6 years. I have 2 temp gauges in this one and monitor them every time I open the door. We purchased a 5-year repair service contract because I don't trust this Freezer.
